Dharmapala takes major honours
CRICKET: A superb five wicket haul from S. Kasun helped
Dharmapala MV Pannipitiya take major honours in their Inter-school
Cricket Tournament match against Prince of Wales College worked off at
Moratuwa.
Dharmapala MV 146 (S. Kandanarachchi 56, Y. Silva 5 for 25, R.
Thirimanne 3 for 10) and 166 (P. Hewage 44, N. Pavithra 33 n.o.).
Prince of Wales 134 (R. Mendis 31, I. Gunasena 26, S. Kasun 5 for
16).
TT tourney postponed
TABLE Tennis The Chrys Gunaratne Memorial Open Ranking Table
Tennis tournament which was to begin yesterday at S. Thomas College
Indoor Stadium, Mt.Lavinia has been postponed. The new dates will be
notified later.
Three oarsmen for Asian Games
ROWING: The Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka has
selected three oarsmen to represent Sri Lanka in the 15th Asian Games to
be held next month in Doha.
Two of them are from the Sri Lanka Navy K.A.K. Sandana and S.M.
Amaradasa whilst the third is a schoolboy, Guyan Dayaratne, the
18-year-old from Moir International school.
Sandana and Amaradasa will compete in the light weight double sculls
event, while Dayaratne will participate in the light weight single
sculls event. Both races will be held on the 5th and 6th of December on
the 1000 metre water stretch of Doha.
The 3 oarsmen leave on the 30th of November accompanied by the coach
cum manager Lakmal Wickremage. (RD)
Fingara Paintball Championship
PAINTBALL: The Fingara Town & Country Club, organised Fingara
Paintball Championship 2006 will be conducted at the Paintball Arena,
Hotel Siri Medura premises, Negombo Road, Seeduwa from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00
p.m. today.
Paintball is a recently introduced high energy sport which has been
gaining popularity among both players and spectators alike.
The Paintball Championship 2006 will be conducted by Snipe Ride (Pvt)
Ltd. under internaitonal regulations, and has the participation of 12
Teams comprising 84 players, who have been preparing for the event
during the past few weeks.
Road Race tomorrow
ROAD RACE: The Colombo Walk and Road Race will be held on
Sunday starting from the Independence Square and will finish at the
Colombo University grounds.
