TENNIS: Royal College, under the leadership of Udith Wickramasinghe, dominated the Schools Tennis scene in 2006.

The Royal College Team retained the National School Games Title beating the challenges of Ananda and St. Peters.

Thereafter, they emerged Senior and Junior Champions, as well as the Overall Champions at the Public Schools Tennis Championships.

They emerged Under 11 Champions beating Colombo International School, Under 15 Champions beating St. Peters. Under 17 Runners-up to St. Peters in the Final, Under 19 Champions beating Asian International School.

Ganendran Subramaniam (Under-19 and Under-17), Sylevester Francis (Under-13 and Under-11) and Sasith Wickramasinghe (Under-15), were the coaches who guided the Royalists towards these outstanding achievements.

The support received from Mrs. I. Hamangoda (Teacher-in-Charge of Tennis) and Sugath Liyanagunawardena (Senior Games Master), as well as the Old Royalists' Tennis Club were a constant source of encouragement.

This year Royal College will be focusing on broadbasing the game by expanding their Beginner Programme, with the expertise of Ganendran Subramaniam and Sylvester Francis.
