COLOMBO: The foundation stone for the construction of the proposed Weerawila International Airport will be laid by President Mahinda Rajapaksa tomorrow.

The ceremony will coincide with the first anniversary of President Rajapaksa's assumption of duties as the Executive President of Sri Lanka.

President Rajapaksa is expected to deliver a speech elaborating on the progress made during his short tenure in office.

The construction of the proposed Weerawila International Airport will generate over 10,000 jobs in the industrial sector. It would also place Galle, Matara and Hambantota in a high potential to attract tourists.

This day, the public would be made aware of many development projects initiated by the various ministries.

The ceremonies will conclude with the performance of religious rights to invoke the blessings of the Triple Gem and the blessings of the benign Gods on the President, the country, the Security Forces and the public.
