Just as you are
It must have been love - let us assume so,
They are married now, a decade or more,
And have amassed, some good points and bad,
Like caring and paring one another's hearts
In the midst of disagreements they agreed to do,
An exercise both good for me and you too,
To make out a list of one's spouse's quirks,
And examine the gist for what its worth
And when it was done her list she hung,
In front of his face a long trail of disgrace,
He read them right through with a deadpan face,
Then hugged his wife in a Bruin embrace
"Stop your nonsense and show me your list,
I'm more than curious to know your drift",
He gave her the paper she looked at both sides,
Then back at his face with some surprise
"Have you nothing to say"?
"No I have nothing to say"!
"I take you as I promised on our wedding day
Just as you are,
Just as you are".
