Anti-LTTE protest in Geneva
SWITZERLAND: Hundreds of Sri Lankans - Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims
protested against the LTTE opposite the UN office in Geneva while the
peace talks were in progress at the International Conference Hall on
Saturday.
The protestors including children, held placards and banners
demanding the LTTE to stop recruitment of child soldiers, stop suicide
bombings and stop the killing of democratic Tamils. Leaflets exposing
the LTTE's atrocities were also distributed to passersby.
Organised by the Campaign Against Separatist Terrorism in Sri Lanka
in Switzerland (CASTIS) the protest was backed by EPDP, PLOTE and EPRLF.
Sri Lankans from Switzerland and London participated in this peaceful
protest held from 2.00pm to 6.00pm.
The organisers said it was a gathering of all communities to protest
against the LTTE since its actions affected everyone and not even the
children were spared.
They said the LTTE must show their sincerity and commitment for
achieving lasting peace by laying down arms and they must do this before
making demands to the Government at the negotiating table.
