Blind cricketers for World Cup in Pakistan
BLIND CRICKET: The third World Cup Cricket for Blind will be
held in Islamabad, Pakistan from 1st to 16th December, 2006. Sri Lanka
will be participating along with Australia, England, India, New Zealand,
Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies.
The National Cricket Association for the Blind in Sri Lanka has been
conducting trials, coaching and selection matches since early this year
in preparation for the tournament.
Sri Lanka Cricket has been rendering tremendous assistance and
national coaches Kumar Ramanathan and Hemal Mendis are handling the
coaching.
Efforts are being made to raise a sum of Rs. 1.5 million required for
the tour. Rienzie Benedict, Secretary of the National Cricket
Association for the Blind appeals for assistance from benefactors and
donors.
