CDL tug boat for Saudi Arabia

COLOMBO: Colombo Dockyards Limited (CDL) last week Delivered the first ever Tug Boat built for overseas markets to Saudi Arabia for one of the most prestigious vessel owners and operators A.A. Turki Corporation.

The tug is fitted with most modern equipment in the world. The Propulsion system of the Tug consisting of Azimuth Thrusters, which can rotate 360 degrees with Controllable Pitch Propellers and Auto pilot system has been manufactured by Rolls Royce. The Main Engines from Wartsila, Italy are fully electronically controlled.

The Tugs can perform berthing operations and also salvage, towing, pulling, pushing and fire fighting. The Tug is designed to be highly effective in restricted waters and in all possible working conditions. CDL was successful in securing the Contract after a team of technical staff visited the yard for yard audits.

They were fully satisfied with CDL's facility and quality of workmanship after inspecting several Tug Boats built by CDL for the local ports.

These Tug Boats will assist vessels calling at the Port of Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
