Project line to develop Upcountry

KANDY: The Upcountry Peasantry Rehabilitation Department is to
complete Rs. 18 million rehabilitation work by the end of this year.
Commissioner of the Department S. Kumarihamy said that people of eight
districts will benefit from 65 infrastructure projects undertaken by the
Department, such as water supply, roads, electricity and community
halls.
Twenty projects have already been completed and the rest nearing
completion, she said. Out of 65 projects 37 over Kandy district, eight
for Ratnapura district and the rest is in Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla,
Moneragala, Kegalle and Ampara districts. Each district will receive
three or four projects.
A new building for the department is also under construction at a
cost of Rs. 8 million. Rs. 3.5 million has been set apart for this
purpose, the Commissioner said. |
