Deshabhimani national award for Major Perera

COLOMBO: Major W. B. A. S. Perera, Civil Coordinating Officer of the 233rd Battalion Headquarters (Batticaloa) of the Sri Lanka Army has been awarded the Deshabhimani National Award in recognition of his services rendered to the country by promoting the morale of Army personnel while engaging himself in social welfare activities, announced a media communique by the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters, yesterday.

The Award was conferred jointly by the Sri Lanka Social Welfare Foundation and the Indian SULAB International Social Services and Human Rights Organisation both affiliated to the Human Rights Organisation of Geneva.

The Award follows a survey conducted by these organisations with regard to Major Perera's involvement in public relations and humanitarian activities and his popularity among the civilians as well as among Army personnel.
