Sri Lanka tops paddy harvest in South Asia

KAHAWA: It is Sri Lanka out of all other South Asian countries that
recorded the highest paddy harvest, the Central Bank stated.
Sri Lanka achieved 4,087 kilograms of harvest for hectare, while
Bangladesh achieved 3,505 kilograms per hectare being in the second
place in South Asia, the Central Bank sates.
"Pakistan has come third in that direction achieving 3,485 kilograms
per hectare," the Central Bank stated.
India achieved only 2,977 kilograms and Nepal achieved only 2,814
kilograms per hectare respectively, according to the Social Economic
Statistics report 2006 of the Central Bank. |
