Special bus service for women

COLOMBO: A special bus service for women was inaugurated by Railways, Transport, Petroleum and Petroleum Development Minister A.H.M.Fowzie at Godagama yesterday.

The Minister inaugurated the first two bus routes under the project which will be run on route 138 from Padukka to Pettah and route 190 from Godagama to Pettah.

The special bus service will be in operation on weekdays and will cover office hours. The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has started this as a pilot project covering the Colombo city and suburbs and plans to initiate the project in other parts of the country in accordance with the demand.

The Transport Board will commence the special services for bus routes 120, 100 and 176 from next week. The buses under this special service will commence running every weekday at 6.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m.
