UN-Lanka mark 50 years partnership

COLOMBO: The 50-year Sri Lankan nexus with the United Nations was commemorated with the presentation of a publication to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.

The Publication, "Sri Lanka and the United Nations, 50 Years of Partnership", was presented to the President by Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

President Rajapaksa also paid tribute to the services rendered by the incumbent UN Resident Representative here, Miguel Bermeo who is relinquishing his post today.

The UN Resident Representative here for the office of the High Commissioner for Refugees Amin Awad, President's Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and Acting Secretary of the Foreign Ministry T.B. Maduwegedara also participated in the presentation.
