Peace thoughts
Here we are again peacefully and thoughtfully from cool Geneva. I
wonder why people from Sri Lanka have to come all this way to talk peace
and to bring peace to Sri Lanka. I am sure we could do that in Sri Lanka
rather than coming all this way. After all, peace must dawn in Sri Lanka
not from Switzerland.
The Government delegation led by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva
have arrived here. All the members were in a relaxed and a confident
mood. It was nice to see the Government delegation like that.
But, could the two-legged Tigers be so ? How could they when they
have blood in their hands ? How could they when they abduct and kill
people ? How could they when they recruit child soldiers ? But, they
have come to Geneva to talk peace and the world is watching we all know.
Some Western media men and women I spoke to told me that they had
lost interest and hope after the first round of talks. They all know
what happened after the first round of hope rather than the talks.
A LTTE sympathiser told me here that the LTTE would talk of human
rights this time. I asked him what right have they got to talk of human
rights when the whole world knows about their brutalities. Anyway it is
all going to happen in Geneva where a terrorist group is planning to
talk of human rights!! What do we call it ? Ninth world wonder ? Yes.
Lets wonder. May be even organise a foreign funded seminar on it at a
later stage. Will some NGO come forward to organise it ?
There is not much talk of security so far. The hotels seem to be
accessible to anyone. But again I wouldn't know what the two-legged
Tigers are doing, if they are caged or not. My only hope is that they
would get an idea of democracy in the land of Swiss.
But, again they can do that in not so far away Colombo, our own
capital in Sri Lanka. They only got to see how the Tamil brethren live
peacefully with the Sinhalese and the Muslims in Colombo and the South
of Sri Lanka. Sooner they realise that there is only one Sri Lanka and
the Tamils cannot be ruled by a man hiding in the jungles, there will be
peace in Sri Lanka.
Peace cannot be achieved by guns but roses. Peace cannot be achieved
by claymores but chocolates, Swiss or otherwise. Peace cannot be
achieved by suicide bombers but by smiling people. Peace cannot be
achieved by terror but by talking sincerely. That the LTTE must realise.
Peacefully Yours
