CSE to host Fund Managers Conference in Singapore
CONFAB: The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) has organised a conference
targetting at Fund Managers based in Singapore on November 22 to promote
the Colombo Stock Market.
This luncheon forum will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at
9.30 a.m. at Sheraton Towers, Scotts Road Singapore. Governor of the
Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Nivard Cabraal will deliver the keynote
address.
There will be a presentation by Chairman of the CSE Nihal Fonseka on
the potential of the Colombo Stock Market followed by presentations by
four of the top listed companies selected on the basis of Market
Capitalisation, namely Dialog Telekom, John Keells Holdings Ltd, Sri
Lanka Telecom and Commercial Bank of Sri Lanka.
The CSE has been one of the best performing stock markets globally
since 2001 and has recorded a consistent annual average growth of over
30% in the All Share Price Index (ASPI) for the last 5 years.
The ASPI has recorded a remarkable growth of 2,117.0 points (524%)
from October 2001 to October 2006. In 2006 to date the ASPI has
increased by 598.5 points (31.1%).
In 2005, the CSE recorded its highest ever net foreign inflow of Rs
6.1 Bn and in 2006 foreign investors continued to be net buyers with net
purchases of Rs 1.5 Bn. Against this backdrop the CSE has organised this
fund managers conference to attract more foreign investment to the Stock
Market.
This luncheon seminar will be organised in association with the High
Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore. High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in
Singapore Shehan Ratnavale will also address the gathering.
A delegation consisting of the Chairman and the Chief Executive
Officer of the CSE, Chief Executive Officers, research analysts and
investment advisors of member firms of the CSE and representatives of
Custodian banks will participate to promote the Colombo Stock Market.
The CSE conducted two successful road shows last year with the
objective of attracting Sri Lankan expatriate professionals and other
Sri Lankans to the Colombo Stock Market.
The UAE road show was held in January 2005 and the Australia/New
Zealand road show was held in October 2005. |
