Govt, LTTE teams leave for Geneva

Government and LTTE delegations left the island yesterday to meet in Geneva for a fresh round of talks scheduled for the end this month. Government Defence spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said despite the LTTE unleashing its terror the Government is committed to peace and to address the genuine concerns of the Tamil community.

Essentials airlifted to Jaffna

The Government yesterday airlifted to Jaffna 25,000 kilograms of essential items which are in short supply in the peninsula. The Military spokesman's office told the Daily News that several food items, soap and medicine were among the commodities sent to Jaffna in a C130 aircraft of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
