Netball for Milo Trophy from Sunday

Netball: The All Island Schools Milo Trophy Netball
championship sponsored by the Nestle Lanka Pvt.Ltd. for the consecutive
15th year will take place from October 22 to 24 at Bogambara Stadium,
Kandy commencing at 10.00 a.m. onwards. This was revealed at a Media
Briefing held at the Capri club in Colombo, recently.
This time nearly 900 teams from 14 centres took part in the selection
matches while only 224 teams qualified to compete at the All Island
level tournament. The 224 teams qualified for the final event will be
under the age groups of 12, 14, 16 and 18.
The players will be provided with accommadation at Girls High School,
Pushpadana BV, Viharamahadevi BV and Swarnamali BV. The umpires will be
accommadated at Girls High School.
The opening ceremony will be on October 22 commencing at 9.00 a.m.
while chief Minister of Central Province, Sarath Ekanayake will grace
the occasion as the chief guest. The guest of honour will be Bandula
Egodage, Promotion and Sponsership Manager Nestle Lanka Ltd.
The President, Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association (SLSNA) said
that the number of teams participating for the Milo trophy championship
has increased in number in compare with the last year which took place
at Uyanwatta Stadium, Matara in early November. She also said that this
event has originated good players to the field of Netball.
The closing ceremony is scheduled for October 24 at 3.00. p.m. with
participation of Governer, Central Province Tikiri Kobbakaduwa. Guests
