JAFFNA: The Security Forces have opened six food outlets to
supply essential food items for civilians in Jaffna peninsula during the
Deepavali and Ramazan festivals.
"It's only a temporary measure as demand has risen in the area. The
outlets will function until Co-operative outlets are opened in the near
future," sources said.
Thousands of people have gathered to buy food items for the Deepavali
festival from these items at affordable prices, sources added.
Since the A9 road was closed in August, food items have been sent by
sea.
The Forces are now selling essential food items such as rice, flour
and sugar at controlled prices, sources said.
The outlets were opened in Jaffna town, Thellipalai, Thanakkilappu,
Chawakachcheri and Ampan. |
