Tokyo festival, window for Lankan entrepreneurs
TOKYO: The third annual Sri Lanka Festival, which held in Tokyo's
Yoyogi park on October 14-15, helped promoting Sri Lanka as an
attractive destination for trade, investment and tourism. This year's
Festival attracted around 80,000-100,000 Japanese, non-Japanese and Sri
Lankans living in and around Tokyo, and in other regions of Japan.
It also provided the Japanese people with the rare opportunity of
experiencing a taste of Sri Lanka during the weekend, said a press
release issued by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo. The theme of this
year's Festival was 'Capturing Nature's Wonders', and all the
attractions at the event reflected what was 'natural', 'beautiful' and
'pure' in Sri Lanka.
The Festival was organised by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo in
co-operation with Sri Lankan and Japanese organisations, companies,
NGOs, Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship associations, Sri Lanka Business
Council of Japan, Sri Lanka Association of Japan and many Sri Lankan and
Japanese individuals.
SriLankan Airlines, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, Sri Lanka Tea Board,
National Gem and Jewellery Authority also joined in organizing the
event. |
