Ranaviru children's school admission issue resolved
COLOMBO: Education Minister Susil Premajayantha has taken
immediate steps to resolve school admission problems of children
belonging to Ranaviru families.
He has also appointed Acting Director (schools) Nandasena
Madawanarachichi as Deputy Director of Education in charge of this
subject. This follows representations to the Minister by a delegation of
the Manel Mal Movement, a press release issued by the Movement's CEO S.K.
Shantha sai.
The delegation pointed out that the Manel Mal Movement had received
information regarding problems encountered by admission to their
children.
It had also received appeals for help from several of these families
to admit their children to schools.
The Minister who gave a patient hearing to the representations made
by this delegation promised to find a quick solution to these problems.
The Minister said he would also provide an opportunity for officials
of the Ranaviru Welfare Board to intervene in this matter.
The delegation which met the Minister comprised Dr. Gunadasa
Amarasekera, Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa, Buddhadasa Vithanachchi
and Ranjith Dassanayake.
The Minister was assisted by National schools Director Priyanthi
Srilal Morris and Acting Director (schools) Nandasena Madawanarachchi
during the discussions. |
