Committee to protect human rights here and abroad

COLOMBO:A Committee for International Law and Relations(CIRS) is to be established shortly which inter alia aims to defend and promote collective and individual human rights of Lankans here and abroad.

The Committee also intends to communicate and work hand in hand with local and international organisations and foreign and local educational institutions worldwide.

It also has as its objectives the promotion, fostering and provision of facilities for education through seminars, discussions, workshops and other means on International Law and Relations.

Establishment of a fully equipped International Centre is also being planned in order to achieve the objects of the CIRS.

The CIRS will organise seminars, discussions, workshops and other fund raising events to improve the image of Sri Lanka, counter adverse propaganda against the country and to take steps to improve educational standards, and the quality of life of Sri Lankan citizens.

Lawyers, academics or professionals in Sri Lanka who are knowledgable and interested in International Law and Relations can apply for membership to the Management Committee. For further details they could contact Tel. No. 0777880166.
