CRICKET: Western Province 'B' had to be satisfied with a first
innings win in their inter-provincial under-17 cricket tournament match
against Central Province which concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium in
Kandy, yesterday.
Central Province continuing from their overnight score of 60 for 4
were dismissed for 184. Thus conceding a first innings lead of 124.
Rajan Bhuwaneka Ekanayake batted well to top score with an elegant 62
with 11 fours off 96 deliveries. Off spinner Nalandian Ashan Priyanjana
followed up his century capturing 3 for 21.
Following on Central Province wiped out the deficit to score 240 for
9 at stumps. Mohamed Feshal who opened the innings hit a bright 42 with
6 fours and 1 six off 60 balls.
His teammate from St. Sylvester's Roshan Jayatissa made a sparkling
76 with 10 fours and 2 sixes off 103 deliveries which saved the Central
Province from a possible outright defeat. Jayatissa and Feshal put on 95
for the third wicket in 67 minutes. Later Jayatissa and Kasun Ekanayake
were involved in a fourth wicket stand of 56. Leg spinner Sameera
Weerasinghe captured 5 for 66 for Western Province.

Central Province 60 for 4 wkts overnight continued 184 all out in
52.5 overs (Bhuwaneka Ekanayke 62, Yasiru Chanaka 37 not out, Roshan
Jayatissa 22, M. Adil Reyal 24, Thisara Perera 2 for 52, Dilshan
Munaweera 2 for 26, Ashan Priyanjana 3 for 21) and 240 for 9 wkts in 56
overs (Mohamed Feshal 42, Sachith Pathirana 10, Roshan Jayatissa 76,
Kasun Ekanayake 36, M. Adil Reyal 14, S. Yasiru Chanaka 19, E. N.
