Tigers fix claymore inside van: Three dead, three injured

VAVUNIYA: Three civilians were killed and three others were injured when Tiger terrorists detonated a claymore mine fixed inside a van around 12.20 p.m. in Periyarakulum, Punthottam yesterday.

The Claymore mine was fixed inside a van which was released yesterday by the Vavunia magistrate's courts. Later the vehicle was driven to a house near Periyarakulum, Punthottam when the blast occurred.

A three-wheeler which was parked in the vicinity of the house was also damaged.

Security Forces believe that the Tigers would have set the claymore mine inside this vehicle to cause harm to civilians and property.

The injured were rushed to the Vavuniya hospital.
