COLOMBO: Norway's special envoy Jon Hanssen-Bauer is scheduled to arrive here early next week to attempt to salvage the truce between the Government and the LTTE, diplomatic sources said.

The Norwegian embassy said the envoy will meet representatives from both the Government and the LTTE, but declined to give details of appointments calming that the programme of the visiting envoy was not yet completed.

Early this month Norway's International Minister Erik Solheim, the predecessor of the current special envoy said the Government and the LTTE have agreed to resume talks in October.

The statement however drew displeasure from the Government which maintained the facilitator has not consulted them (Government) before announcing the date.
