TU alliance formed

COLOMBO: The JVP yesterday formed a new alliance named "United Front for the protection of the Motherland".

The All Island Estate workers union, Inter University Students Federation and several women's organisations initiated this alliance.

"The West's influence is the most serious problem affecting nation building. Privatisation of government enterprises is a big problem for workers. We must always be concerned about our country's economic standards," Trade Union Federation's co-chairman Lal Kantha said.

The Alliance is to strengthen their future plans to promote development standards.
