UN Association of Sri Lanka celebrates World Peace Day

COLOMBO:The United Nations Association of Sri Lanka celebrated the World Peace Day for the 14th consecutive year on 21 September.

A team led by Association's President Riency Wijetilake conducted seminars at Wariyapola Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya and Asgiriya Maha Vidyalaya in Kandy to mark this event. Value of peace ,the ethnic issue in Sri Lanka were among the subjects discussed at the seminars.

Wijetilake addressing the students requested to think differently towards peace to achieve a more unified society.

UN Association Secretary General Kumaran Fernando and Assistant Secretary Dharmadasa Vithana and UNDP Information Officer Mohan Samaranayaka also participated.

The World Peace Day was observed in 183 countries worldwide this year.
