Victoria Ladies Golf Tourney begins on September 30

GOLF: The Ladies Open golf tournament conducted by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and sponsored by Sampath Bank will be held in Rajawella at the picturesque Victoria Course on September 30 and October 1.

This event is expected to draw the largest field of players ever for a Ladies Open played in Sri Lanka. The signing of the partnership for this year's Ladies Open was held recently at the Sampath Centre in Colombo.

The Ladies Open is expected to draw competitors from the Indian Subcontinent, Singapore, Malaysia, the Middle East, UK, France, Switzerland, Germany and Scandinavia in addition to top lady golfers from the local golfing scene.

The Sampath Bank Victoria Ladies Open will have a unique feel as it will be a 36 hole net stableford competition played over two days. In contrast to most Opens, the winner can come from anywhere in the field. Entries for the Ladies Open 2006 are now open.
