Kit Premier League Soccer Championship:

Ratnam- Air Force the key game today

SOCCER: The defending championsof the Kit Premier League Negombo Youth Sports Club has already taken a good lead by collecting nine points from three games played so far in the ongoing Championship.

They are closely followed by last years runners up Ratnam Sports Club from Kotahena who have a total of six points from two matches.

Menawhile the Pettah soccer giants Saunders Sports Club which failed to impress last year have shown an improvement during this tourney so far winning two games out of three played upto date.

They failed to overcome the defending champions in the first round this season. They are placed at number three slot behind leaders Negombo Youth SC and Ratnam SC.

In the Segment 'B' Jupiters Sports Club also from Negombo have taken the top spot after five games.

They managed to collect a total of 12 points winning four games and losing one on their way to the top. Old Bens Sports Club with three games completed this season occupies the next slot with nine points the maximum from these games.

Gampola's Red Sun Scwho too have finished three of their games have drawn one game and won two to be on the third position having a total of seven points in their favour.

This week end will see Saunders SC take on Police SC at police ground, Bamabalpitiya, which will be of vital importance to the Pettah Club.

A win in this game can put them on par with the leaders as the latter team is not involved in a game.

But on the other hand Ratnam SC too get the opportunity to reach the top if they overcome Air Force SC today at Police Park.

A loss for the Saunders will definitely put them further below while Ratnam could be on par with Negombo Youth.

Old Bens SC are in line to be along with the table leaders in the Segment 'B' if they beat Kalutara Park SC tomorrow. Meanwhile Red Sun SC too play against Java Lane SC on the same day at City League ground.

Both these teams can move further ahead if they overcome their opponents.
