CELEBRATIONS: The first move of the two phased celebrations to
mark fifty years of rugger at Wesley College commences this morning at
the CR & FC grounds - where 24 schools will compete today and tomorrow
in the under 16 ten-a-side rugby tournament.
As determined by the points gained, the teams will progress to enter
the Cup, Plate or Bowl competitions as the case may be.
The next move will be the presentation of awards at a gala banquet to
be held tomorrow evening, at the Trans Asia Hotel at which the former
rugger captains of Wesley too, will be felicitated with appropriate
mementos.
There will also be the unveiling of the past 'Rugger Captains' Board.
The chief guest at the rugby tournament will be the benevolent old boy,
S. Mahendran while at the gala dinner it will be Dilip Kumar of Trinity
fame, with the co-chairman of the organizing committee, Capt. Navin de
Silva, making the welcome address, with former Australian rugby coach,
Bob Dwyer, being the post prandial speaker.
