Asia Pacific Scouts 'Peace Batton' arrives
COLOMBO: The Asia Pacific Region of the World Organisation of
Scout Movement based in Manila, Philippines celebrates its golden
jubilee this year.
As part of the celebration there are four Peace Battons which are
taken to many parts of every country within the region. The Peace Batton
which arrived from the Maldives to Sri Lanka on September 14 was
received from Kurunegala District by Colombo District Scouts on
September 19.
A ceremony was held opposite the Scout Statue at Sir Marcus Fernando
Mawatha, Colombo 7, where all those present at the request of the
District Commissioner passed the Batton to each other committing to
spread the message of peace in the district of Colombo and in Sri Lanka
before repeating the scout promise. |
