SWRD commemoration

COLOMBO: Mani Shanker Aiyar, India's Union Cabinet Minister of Panchayati Raj, Youth Affairs and Sports, a frontliner in the ruling Congress Party, will be the guest speaker at the Bandaranaike commemoration meeting on September 26 at 5 p.m. at the BMICH to mark the 46th death anniversary of Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike.

Aiyar was a protege of the late Indira Gandhi and a principal Advisor to the then Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He is a personal friend of Minister of Tourism Anura Bandaranaike.

He has been invited to deliver this lecture by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Aiyar will speak on 'South Asian politics, especially southern Asia'.

He is a prolific writer and a brilliant orator and a rising star in the political firmament of India's politics.
