Torrential rains, floods kill 31 in southeastern India
INDIA: Torrential rains and floods have killed at least 31 people
over the past two days in the southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh,
officials said Wednesday.
Around 5,000 people have been evacuated to safer areas and many
villages were cut off after roads and railway tracks were submerged when
rivers in the state overflowed their banks. Most deaths were due to
collapsed houses, or people swept away by flood waters, said G. T.
Priyadarshini, a relief official.
