Indices gain slightly

BOURSE: Both indices gained slightly yesterday while the turnover remained moderate recording Rs. 278 million. The All Share Price Index moved up by 5.08 points to close at 2,331.32 points. The Milanka Price Index closed at 2,917.88 points gaining 3.83 points compared to the previous day.

Yesterday's market capitalisation was Rs. 713 billion. Over 2 million Tokyo Cement (non voting) shares traded yesterday and the share closed slightly up at Rs. 14. A large block of foreign to foreign transaction saw 0.43 million National Development Bank shares being traded.

The share gained by Rs. 0.75 to close at Rs.165.75. No trades of the controversial Lanka Hospital Corporation took place yesterday also as the trading was halted by the Colombo Stock Exchange last week due to the confusion created by the taking over of Apollo hospital by business tycoon Harry Jayawardena.

Analysts said the market couldn't continue the upward trend which was witnessed last week due to disturbing incidents in the East where 10 people were killed by terrorists sparking tension in the area.
