Vidyartha in stunning 24-19 win over Peterites

RUGBY: Vidyartha College, Kandy created a major upset when they beat
schools rugby champions St. Peter's College 24-19 on the opening day of
Singer, Sri Lankan Airlines schools rugby Sevens organised by Kandy
Sports Club which began at the Nittawela rugby stadium in Kandy
yesterday.
St. Peter's College in turn created another upset when they beat
Kingswood college 21-19 after trailing 0-19 at the breather. It was
sheer complacency which led to Kingswood's downfall as they looked
virtual bystanders in the second half conceding 21 points while scoring
none. The highest total of the day was scored by Isipatana College who
ran up 54 points against the hapless Josephian.
Vidyartha College after performing the role of giant killers in
defeating St. Peter's College, scraped through to a 14-12 win over their
traditional rivals St. Sylvester's College.
