'Sri Lanka forging steadily towards regional computer market'

PROGRESS: Sri Lanka is one of the key emerging computer markets in
the region, said Director Sales, Intel, (South Asia) G.B. Kumara.
Speaking at the introduction of their new product line he said that
Sri Lanka has shown a significant growth.
Sri Lanka has maintained a 100% year on year growth of lap top
computers. "The personal computer growth has been around 30 per cent",
he said.
Intel unveiled the new revolution in processors, with the
introduction of their new product line of Intel(R) Core (TM) 2 Duo and
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Extreme to Sri Lanka. High performance capable and
energy efficient processors designed for consumers, business desktops,
Laptop PCs and workstations.
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo and Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Extreme heralds a new
era of computer performance, minimising power consumption, as well as
redefining how we use computer technology to transform our lives.
The Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo and Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Extreme
processors were launched in the presence of Sri Lanka's record-breaking
cricket stars; Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela
Jayawardena said, "Intel's new chip is an exciting innovation and we
hope it will help improve people's lives and contribute to the growth
and development of Sri Lanka's economy."
The Core 2 Duo desktop processor is an energy-efficient marvel,
packing 291 million transistors and consuming 40 per cent less power,
while delivering a 40 percent increase in performance. |
