Project to promote indigenous medicine among youth
Kebithigollewa: The Ayurveda Community Health Project of the
Indigenous Medicine Ministry will be linked with the National Youth
Services Council's youth programme to instil a sense of indigenous
attitudes and feelings among youth.
Indigenous Medicine Minister and Religious Affairs Deputy Minister
Tissa Karaliyadda disclosed this when he participated in a Shramadana
campaign to rehabilitate the Pahala Usgollewa road in the Kebithigollewa
Divisional Secretariat Division recently.
Minister Karaliyadda said the Ayurveda Community Health Service was
now operating throughout the Anuradhapura district.
Under this programme 10 community health promotion officers and a
physician were being deployed in each divisional secretariat division.
Their services would be readily available during youth camps to
obtain clinical services, food supply and other refreshments.
These officers were also engaged in promoting indigenous medicine by
conducting lectures and seminars on Ayurvedic drugs and plants.
Chairperson Kebithigollewa Pradeshiya Sabha Kalyani Karaliyadda was also
present. |
