Industrial and trade exhibitions
MONERAGALA: The second in a series of Vo-Tec 2006 Industrial
and Trade Exhibitions organised by the Vocational and Technical Training
Ministry to create a new trend in the technical training sector in
accordance with the Mahinda Chintanaya will be held at the Moneragala
Technical College from September 12 to 16.
These exhibitions planned on a concept of Vocational and Technical
Training Minister Piyasena Gamage is aimed to offer encouragement to
youth undergoing training in institutions under the Ministry purview and
divert school leavers towards vocational training programmes, a Ministry
release said yesterday.
These exhibitions will help educate people especially youth on the
National Vocational Qualification System and divert trained youth
towards the industrial and self-employment sectors.
They will also showcase the products and talents of technically
trained youth to popularise them among the rural sector.
The release said the exhibitions will also educate the people about
the activities of the nine Higher Technical Colleges on the basis of one
in each province and the proposed Vocational Technology University which
will begin academic activities in 2007.
All institutions under the purview of the Vocational and Technical
Training Ministry, the BOI and institutions under the purview of several
ministries as well as the SLAF will participate in the exhibition.
The first in the series of Vo-Tec Exhibitions was held at the
Beliatte Technical College from June 12 to 16. |
