Board of Review to consider commutations of life sentences

COLOMBO: Minister of Justice & Law Reforms has appointed a Board of Review to consider the commutation of the life sentences to a specific period of the 147 affected prisoners and make appropriate recommendations regarding the circumstances that led to the protest staged by the prisoners serving life sentences at Welikada Prison from 7th May to 10th May 2004.

The Members of the Board are G. L. M. de Silva - Retired Judge of the High Court (Chairman) and H. G. Dharmadasa - former Commissioner of Prisons, Mrs. Kamalini de Silva - Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry and Mrs. Piyumanthi Peiris, Assistant Secretary of the Ministry.
