Rs. 400m. to construct Angsana spa

SPA: The Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts has invested Rs. 400 million to construct Angsana City Club and Spa complex the largest city Spa in the city.

Director Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, Rohan Karr, said that they have awarded the franchise of the Spa to globally renowned Banyan Tree hotels and Resorts, which would manage the Spa. "We are targeting the up end of the market and also residents on the two residential towers Crescat and hotel guests," he said.

He said that they also refurbished and re named the former Colombo Plaza as Cinnamon Grand as part of the exercise under taken by Asian Hotels and Properties last year. "We want to promote healthier living and this was why we launched this Spa," he said.

Officially opened recently the Spa is located adjoining Crescat City Colombo 3 and is also open for public membership.

Facilities include 12 treatment rooms, steam and sauna rooms, hot and cold bath pools, a fully equipped state-of-the-art gymnasium, dance studio, roof-top pool and health cafe, with the added convenience of a large basement car park. Purpose-built in keeping with the concept of a holistic approach to healthier living, the Spa will deliver standards of excellence that has become synonymous with the Banyan Tree master brand.

A boutique shop offering signature Angsana products, as well as a sport-related gear would be also available.

The first floor has a 70-seater up-market Italian restaurant. The first level also comprises a modern gymnasium, which is fitted with equipment that can cater to the requirements of even the most discerning fitness fan. Separate male and female locker rooms, sauna and steam rooms and hot and cold bath pools for both men and women, are new features that are probably Colombo's first!

Internationally qualified trainers, personal fitness programmes, and a dance studio are added attractions. There's also yoga and aerobics.

The second level of the complex, accessible through the lifts or the sprawling staircase, is completely dedicated to Angsana's promise of a 'sanctuary for the senses'.

The entire floor, hosts specialised treatment rooms including a salon with Angsana's range of services for total well-being that helps address the need for a healthy lifestyle!

The third level, with its stunning view of the city sets the base for the large roof-top swimming pool with its external jet massages and bubble mat facilities, to make way for total water therapy.

The area also has a health cafe tucked away in the corner for Club members who are high on health. The menu offers a range of fruity drinks, cocktails as well as salads keeping to the theme of harmonising taste with health.
