Assistance for Muttur displaced

COLOMBO: The World Islamic Call Society in Colombo handed over fifty tons worth of humanitarian assistance to the displaced victims of Muttur through the Jamahiriyathul Ulama at a function at the Residence of the Libyan Ambassador under the patronage of the Charge d' Affaires Nagib, I. S. Kofou.

The relief items contained dry foods, cooking utensils and home needs essential items such as lanterns, kettles, wash basins and towels.

The function was graced by Ameer Ali, Minister of Disaster Management, A. H. M. Azwer, President's Advisor on Media Affairs, learned Ulamas, the Heads of Welfare Organisations and media personnel.

The Resident Representative of the World Islamic Call Society office in Colombo, Tayib El. Misurati appreciated the services rendered by the other welfare organisations to victims, refugees and affected people.

The main objective of the World Islamic Call Society, founded in 1972 was to examine the problems that affect the lives of people all over the world and to provide them humanitarian assistance without any discrimination of religion, ethnic, language and colour.

Through co-operation and agreements between the World Islamic Call Society and UNESCO, the Society had gained the advisory status in UNESCO.

Thus the World Islamic Call Society has opened an office in the premises of UNESCO in Paris. Besides, the Society has branches in more than twenty five countries in the many parts of the world such as Philippine, Senegal, Malta, Maldives and Italy.

The World Islamic Call Society calls for peace, love, security, tolerance and understanding among the communities of all different faiths as it is against violence, terrorism and extremism. These are the basis of the World Islamic Call Society's work, which are derived from Islamic Sharia.

A. H. M. Azwer, President's Advisor said, Muammar Al-Qathafi always was in forefront to help victims and oppressed people all over the world.

He reminded the visit of the President of Sri Lanka to Libya, when he was Minister of Fisheries.

The President participated in a conference in which the Libyan Leader addressed the delegates. He discussed several International Affairs with him.
