Peace process may figure during Singh-Musharraf meet
PAKISTAN: The Indo-Pak peace process and related issues may
come up for discussion during the likely meeting between Pakistan
President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the
sidelines of the NAM summit in Havana later this month.
President Musharraf would travel to Cuba for the Non-Aligned Movement
summit this month and his meeting with the Indian Prime Minister might
take place there, Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam
told reporters. "They may discuss the peace process and all related
issues," she said.
She said Indian allegations against Pakistan about cross-border
activities are without any ground. Pakistan does not support terrorism
and condemns it in all its forms and manifestations, she said, claiming
Islamabad is a victim of terrorism and is fighting the scourge in
collaboration with the international community. The spokesperson said a
neutral expert is likely to give his judgement on Baglihar Dam issue by
the end of the year.
She said Musharraf will visit Kabul `at the earliest' at the
invitation of Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The arrangements are being
worked out and the visit would take place at the earliest, she said,
adding the purpose of the visit is to further strengthen bilateral
relations.
