Vidyartha in 29-19 win over Joes

RUGBY: Vidyartha College, Kandy scored a good 29 points (2
goals, 3 tries) to 19 (2 goals, 1 try) win over St. Joseph's College,
Colombo in their schools Singer Trophy Rugby Tournament match played at
Nittawela yesterday. At half time Vidyartha led 12-7.
It was the Josephians who opened scoring when a charance by
Vidyartha's Centre Roshan Ratnayake was smothered by Josephian flanker
Rusiru Munasinghe who also touched down by the posts and full back
Dilshan Perera added the extra points.
But Vidyartha fought back to snatch the lead through tries by flanker
Mirindu Migara and full back Vajira Harshana who made a blazing 80 metre
run to score mid lift. Fly half Chanaka Chandimal goalled one of the
tries.
After the lemons winger M.D. Tillekaratne put Vidyartha further ahead
through a try off a three quarter movement. Chanaka Chandimal added the
extra points.
Vidyartha scored two more tries through Roshan Ratnayake and stand
off Chanaka Chandimal both went unconverted.
Josephians fight back came late through flanker Himalsha Gunawardena
and centre Priyan Perera which was goalled by scrum half Dilan Fernando.
