Preliminary round events of youth sports festival

SPORTS FESTIVAL: The preliminary round team events of the 18th National Youth Sports Festival organised by the National Youth Services Council will be worked off today and tomorrow in Colombo and in the suburbs.

The netball tournament for men and women along with the kabaddi events for both men and women will be worked off at the National Youth Services Centre in Maharagama, elle tournament for men at the Dharmapala MV Grounds in Pannipitiya and the men's cricket tournament at the Meegoda MV Grounds today.

In addition the men's and the women's volleyball tournament and the soccer tournament will be held at the National Youth Services Centre in Maharagama while the women's elle tournament will be held on Sunday at the Dharmapala MV grounds in Pannipitiya.

Meanwhile the men's and the women's swimming events and the men's and the women's rowing events will be held at the Bolgoda Lake on September 25. The men's and women's marathon events will be held on October 6 and the cycling events for both men and women will be held in Anuradhapura.

The National Youth Sports Festival final round events will be held on October 7 and 8 in Anuradhapura under the patronage of Sports Minister Jeewan Kumaranatunga.
