Five star status for Kosgoda Beach Resort

Elevation: Kosgoda Beach Resort is to be elevated to a super
luxury five star beach resort soon.
The hotel, which was damaged by the tsunami, and closed for one and a
half years, was re opened recently. “The property has undergone a
complete change and new luxury features were added,” General Manager,
Mohan De Silva said. The investment for the hotel was around Rs. 130
million. Today the hotel offers 42 chalets and a 200-year-old house has
been converted to a special honeymoon suite.

All rooms have been introduced with a mini plunge pool equipped with
has a special spa shower, tea coffee facility, mini bar and safe, hair
dryer, and modern furniture and a well laid interior on a granite floor.
“Some Chalets have a Duplex which gives more privacy for guests,” he
said.

They are also in the process of rebuilding the two stored luxury
glass walled suite with an inbuilt swimming pool, which was very
popular. “Their clients are demanding this kind of high end Villas,” he
said.
De Silva who served at Hotel Oberoi said that another unique feature
was the introduction of a fine dining pavilion overlooking the new
reception. In addition there is a fine dining Pavilion situated at the
pools edge and another air-conditioned restaurant. The lobby bar,
business centre, conference facilities and many out-door recreational
activities which include, Tennis, billiards, volleyball, turtle
watching, boat rides on Madu Ganga, Fitness centre among others.
The Ayurvedha Spa with a mini pool and other facilities is also
popular among hotel guests. “We are aiming at the top end of the
European and local market,” he said.
In a bid to attract more Sri Lankans they are special packages for
Sri Lankans where additional meal is provided free for full board
guests.
