Prof Osmond Jayaratne passes away

COLOMBO: Professor Osmond Jayaratne, a senior member of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party from its Suriyamal Campaign, passed away yesterday.

Professor Jayaratne born in October 1924, was a scientist in Physical Science and was formally attached to the University of Colombo. Since his retirement in 1990, he worked to take science to villages.

He was a Vidyajothi award winner both from the University of Colombo and University of Sri Jayawardenpaura. Professor Jayarathne's body is lying at the Jayaratne funeral parlour. Funeral will take place at the Borella Kanatte on Sunday evening.
