Natasha's debut as choreographer in Hipnotic

CHOREOGRAPHY:As she trots across the stage putting in the final touches to her bevy of young and exuberant dancers to her showpiece, the lanky, long-legged Natasha Jayasuriya is taking her first major step towards professional choreography. She is on the rise not only as a dancer but a young and talented choreographer.

DEBUT: A scene from Hipnotic

It is only a handful around the world who take up to choreography while dancing. Not because they lack choreographic talent but they dare not risk failures.

But Natasha is a bold and vibrant girl, full of imagination and innovation. She takes a step outside her the repertoire of classical ballet for which she is known in Sri Lanka. Modern dancing is at the core end of her heart.

So, brilliantly she came up with the conception of Hipnotic on her own. No help from mom, Deanna Jayasuriya who wanted her sibling to dare and feel the excitement at her own results. Even sister, Natalie kept her distance giving Natasha the space to make her debut.

Hipnotic is billed to go on the boards on September 1 and 4 at the Bishop's College Auditorium, Colombo.

Natasha is presently the Artistic Director of the Deanna School of Dancing which has over 500 students on the roll with a plush studio and all facilities to teach ballet as well as other forms of dance.

Apart from being trained in classical ballet since her infancy, Natasha has also excelled in tap, Spanish ballroom, Latin American and other forms of contemporary dance which she has cleverly combined to come up with Hipnotic.

Glancing at the preview, it is certainly going to be a spectacular extravaganza that will keep young crowds tapping their feet and merging into its musical rhythms. - 'Nureyeva'
