House adjourned early

KOTTE: The Parliament session yesterday ended prematurely as
the Opposition MP who was to move an adjournment motion on the country's
security situation and its effects on schools did not turn up in the
House.
UNP Parliamentarian Edward Gunasekara was to present his motion
following the vote of condolence on Batticaloa district MP Joseph
Pararajasingham.
Parliament began at 9.30 am and after the presentation of papers and
oral questions the House proceeded to take up the condolence motion of
Pararajasingham, but no Members were present at the House to speak on
the motion.
The second reading of the Amendment Bill on General Consistory of the
Dutch Reformed Church of Ceylon and the Bill on National Kidney
Foundation Sri Lanka were considered. |
