Threats on journalist condemned
COLOMBO: The Sri Lanka Working Journalists' Association (SLWJA)
in a release yesterday said Observer Deputy editor Prasad Gunawardena
has received several death threats following a story published in the
Observer of August 20 regarding the VAT scam and birth certificate
fraud.
The release said the Association vehemently condemned death threats
posed to journalists in the cause of their duties in searching the truth
and divulging information about persons engaged in various activities
directly affecting the people.
Gunawardena has personally met the IGP and complained about the death
threats received by him and the Association hoped the Police would act
fast to bring the culprits involved to book. |
