Final Randoli Perahera at Bellanwila
BELLANWILA: The final Randoli Maha Perahera of the Raja Maha
Vihara will parade the streets today at 9.30 p.m.
This year's Randoli Maha Perahera with a large number of elephants
and dancers will leave the temple at 9.30 p.m. and parade along Sri
Bodhi Raja Mawatha (Dehiwela-Maharagama Road), Bellanwila Junction,
Nikape-Nedimala Junction, Pepiliyana Mawatha, Bellanthara Road, Sri
Somarathana Mawatha and Vihara Mawatha before it returns to the temple.
The Perahera began in 1950 under the auspices of the late Ven.
Bellanwila Sri Somarathana Nayake Thera and is organised on the
instructions of Ven. Bellanwila Dhammarathana Nayake Thera, chief
incumbent and Ven. Prof. Bellanwila Wimalarathana Nayake Thera,
Viharadikari in cooperation with the Dayaka Sabha, Kulangana Society and
Young Men's Buddhist Association. |
