A.G. Piyadasa
FESTIVAL: World Spice Festival, organised by the Corporate
Section of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, together with the five-star
hotels and top restaurants in the city, will be held from September 14
to 21.
HSBC, one of the largest banking institutions in the world has
offered to play the role of principal sponsor for the World Spice
Festival in a bid to bring Sri Lankans a world class taste of global
cuisine - reaffirming its belief to bring nothing but the best for its
clients in Sri Lanka.
Each hotel, cafe and restaurant will conduct a food festival for one
week in one of their restaurants with a guest chef taking you through a
particular cuisine.
Udaya Nanayakkara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board, is very
optimistic about the event's success and is closely involved with every
aspect of event. A spectacular highlight of the main event of the
festival is the Global Spice Village to be held on the 15 and 16
September at the Sathutu Uyana.
The speciality chefs flown down from various parts of the world will
work their magic at this event, thus making the event a truly global
one.
Participating hotels, cafes, and restaurants that will don the chef's
hat at the 'Global Spice Village' are: Hilton Colombo, Taj Samudra,
Trans Asia, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Holiday Inn, Ceylon Continental,
Mount Lavinia Hotel, Water's Edge, The Gallery Cafe, The Mango Tree,
Raja Bojun, The Galle Face Hotel and The Galadari Colombo.
