LTTE attempt to abduct child inmates foiled
Trincomalee : The Security Forces on Wednesday foiled an
attempt by the LTTE to abduct 50 child inmates from the “Revatha
Children’s Home in Trincomalee by firing grenades and mortars at the
Home.
The Security Forces who acted promptly had repulsed the attacks
forcing the terrorists to flee, according to the OIC China Bay Police
Inspector Aruna Chandrapala.
The Home was empty at the time as the children had left for an
outing, police said.
Three Security Forces personnel and a home guard sustained injuries
in the exchange and were admitted to the Trincomalee hospital. They were
part of the security provided to the Children?s Home. A nearby temple
was also damaged by the mortar attack. |
